There are a couple ways to plant potatoes, either way it’s an easy project for even a beginner gardener. One way is to use organic potatoes from the grocery store that are starting to sprout. Cut them in quarters. Let them dry at room temperature, and stick them in the ground.
The other way is just to buy seed potatoes from a local farm store, or order them online. We pre-ordered our seed potatoes from Fedco.com up in Maine.
Behold the seed potato! Imagine getting a whole bag of potatoes out of just one small potato. With enough water & hilling of the soil, each seed potato will yield 3-4 pounds of taters.
It's the end of April, and we're planting these potatoes. We got these seed potatoes from @fedcoseeds in Maine.
We will just barely cover these potatoes, and as the plant grows up, we shovel more dirt over the plants.
I love photographing things in the air. Gotta love me a good sprinkle of natural organic Turbo-Tuber fertilizer from @Fedcoseeds - it has fish meal, feather meal, soybean meal, and a lot of other good stuff to create super potatoes!
