Industrial Photographer: Outdoor Power Equipment

Living in a rural part of Connecticut means you collect tree branches, twigs, and leaves, resulting in a huge pile of rabbit (or skunk!) habitat. Burning brush isn't the best solution for us, either, as the smoke can be irritating and burning is prohibited anyway. Check out my photos of the solution to eliminating brush piles!

DetailK2 3-inch Disk Chipper Shredder

As a commercial photographer who loves to capture great product in action, industrial photography is one of the best ways to showcase the functions and benefits of outdoor power equipment. I am a lifestyle commercial photographer based in Connecticut, but will work with companies anywhere between Boston and Los Angeles! Here are some sample photos of one of the best backyard machines, the DetailK2 3-inch Disk Chipper Shredder.

The DK2 Disk Chipper Shredder is a perfect solution for homesteaders, gardeners, and property owners who don't want brush piles to build up. Who wants to create a habitat for rabbits and skunks near the garden? Not me. I also love the fact that this Chipper Shredder is a great way to create smaller pieces of leaves and branches that will decompose quicker to benefit the nitrogen levels in my garden.

To create these photos, I decided to photograph the chipper/shredder during "golden hour" about an hour before sunset. I wanted to see the sun through the trees, and to be my backlight, illuminating the shreds of wood that will come out of the chipper. To add some dimension to the power equipment, and make it stand out from the background, I used a 3-foot strip box over the Godox AD200 flash. This helped to make one side of the chipper look brighter and more vivid, creating some contrast.
