GOALS
I worked with Naked Root to create photos of their new product line, updated studio & lifestyle photos to align with their brand refresh, and visuals for upcoming retail packaging and display. Naked Root is a Connecticut-based company that sells beautiful, specialized planters that help houseplants and potted plants thrive. Because this is the only product of its kind, we wanted to make sure that studio ecommerce images showed its semi-transparency and true colors, and that the lifestyle visuals showed how these planters can be incorporated into natural home settings.
APPROACH
The planters are two layers, with an inner layer that resembles a colander. We needed to capture the semi-transparency of the planters—to be able to see the inner design of the slats, and to see the layer of dirt, or water, inside the pots. To do this, I added backlighting to make sure the planters photographed to be “true-to-life” and in some cases, I re-created sunshine artificially.
RESULTS
In a matter of 4 shoot days, we created 140 final images, in print & web formats for 30 SKUs. Various photos were shot specifically for retail packaging, trade show displays, the ecommerce website, social media, printed brochures and postcards.
